Fort Mill Wrestling Club Registration
YOUTH WRESTLING PROGRAM (2012 - 2013)
Ages: 6–12 (exceptions for 5 year olds based on being able to handle structured practices)
- Location: Fort Mill High School Wrestling Room
- Time: 6:30pm to 8pm
- Begins: Week of November 12th
- Days: November & December Tuesday & Thursday / January Monday & Wednesday
- Location: Fort Mill High School Wrestling Room
- Dates to Register:
- Tuesday October 16th 6:30pm to 8:00pm
- Tuesday October 23rd 6:30pm to 8:00pm
- Tuesday October 30th 6:30pm to 8:00pm
- Saturday November 3rd TBA …***Moms on the Mat***
- Tuesday November 6th 6:30pm to 8:00pm
- Tuesday November 13th – 1st day of practice
- Cost: $55 (Checks made payable to FMWF)
- AAU Card Required: Information will be provided – Cost Roughly $15
Recreation program ends at the end of January. Wrestlers planning on wrestling at Upper State and State Tournament will continue into the middle of March.

Wrestling Foundation 3rd Annual Yard Sale
Our Yard Sale will be held Saturday, August 25th, 2012 from 8am-2pm in the gym lobby at Fort Mill High School (225 Munn Road, Fort Mill, SC). Contact Mary Ellen Mockridge at email@example.com. You can also drop off your items at my house - 1054 Kilpatrick Lane in Knightsbridge. Just email or call me first.
Also, for $25 you can rent your own space. Registration Form here.
We are in need of volunteers for both Friday evening and all day Saturday. There is a lot to do in getting a yard sale this big up and running. Even if you can only give up an hour of your time, it would be greatly appreciated. We try to have a good time doing this, so come on out and have some fun with your fellow wrestling parents. Remember, we are doing this for all of our kids!

Wrestling Foundation Monthly Meeting
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 7pm @ the Fort Mill Library in Baxter. Please make every effort to attend! With the beginning of the new school year fast approaching and wrestling season just around the corner (YAY!!). I'd like to wish all of our boys best of luck in both their academic and athletic endeavors.

OUR NEW WRESTLING ROOM COMPLETE!!!!
Fort Mill's Wrestling Team has been waiting a long time to have a workout facility they can call their own! Well, almost their own.... as it looks like other school groups will need to use it from time to time I'm told. Let's just hope that those activities that use sharp, pointy objects stay clear! We all know that those wrestling mats are more fragile than the fellows that use them.
Anyone that has been involved with the wrestling program knows that Coach has been trying to persuade the board to set aside the cash to build this type of facility for the last 10 years. And now it's going to become a reality! No more moving and rolling out the mats before every practice, and having to roll them up again after practice is over. That's now history! It's kind of funny to hear some of the wrestling alumni now say that that daily process actually built character and made them tougher because of it. Yeah, and the switch from canvas to polyvinyl chloride foam mats years ago made wrestlers softer too! I don't think so.... Anyway check out the photo below to get a sneak peak of what the new room will look like.

Youth Wrestling Program Trophy Tournament
Despite some delays due to having to do most of the bracketing and all of the bout sheets by hand, Saturday's Youth Program tournament was a success. This was the first of what we hope will be many tournaments sponsored and held for the kids at Fort Mill High School. We hope all the teams felt their wrestlers were exposed to some good competition during this event.

During the week of December 27th (through January 2nd), Beef O'Brady's at Baxter Village will donate a portion of their sales proceeds to the Fort Mill Wrestling Foundation. Make sure to ask to be seated at "The Booth". Tell everyone you know and eat hearty while you're there!

Youth Program Equipment Pickup Today!
On Friday, Dec. 17th the FM Youth Program will distribute your wrestling gear order at the Fort Mill Town Tavern (Suite 160) from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Checks are to be made out to Jim Claassen or Cash. You can pay for everything now except for the singlets since they won't come in until the 2nd week of January. If you eat at the Tavern or order take out, 10% of your tab will go to the wrestling program. (The FM Wrestling Foundation) If you can't pick up today, Jim Claassen will send an alternative date and time.

I originally intended to put all of the photos you send me on this site, but the file size for a lot of them makes them too large to allow the web page to load up as fast as I want to keep it. Reducing them to a workable size for display also tends to reduce the quality somewhat and we certainly don't want that, do we? We want our boys to be shown in full high definition!
Leslie Ponder had a great idea by setting up a Shutterfly account where all photos can be uploaded to. Check out the great action shots at the Fort Mill Middle School Wrestling Photo site she set up!! The Password is MS2010. This looks like the way to go! I'll most likely set one up for the FM JV and Varsity teams and we'll need someone to set up one for the FM Youth Program. Send an email to Jim or Mary Ellen Mockridge to let us know if you agree with this approach.
We Appreciate Your Support For Making the "Main Event" a Success!
And we especially want to thank Russ and Nancy Frase for all the hard work that they put into this event to make it successful! I know there were a lot of other people that helped tremendously, but without Russ and Nancy we would not have been able to pull it off. We didn't quite get the turnout we would have liked, but it was the first year of its kind for Fort Mill Wrestling. Next year we're hoping to get even more student body support as the sport gets more recognition. If you know of any businesses or sponsors who would like to be part of this event next year, please let us know. It's never too early to start planning for next season!
Thanks to all of you who supported the Main Event last night! We now have to get ready for our Beef O'Brady tournament this weekend. We need volunteers in the concession stand to work 2 hour shifts on both Friday and Saturday, food and drinks for our wrestlers,and breakfast and lunch items for the Hospitality Room. We'll also need help cleaning up each night. Friday shifts are 6-8, 5-7,7-9. Saturday shifts are 10-12,12-2,2-4, and 4-6. Please let Mary Ellen know and send her an email with what you can bring and/or do. Thanks in advance for your help in making this a successful event for our program- we couldn't do it without you!

The Main Event !
The newly founded Fort Mill Wrestling Foundation will host The Main Event, Standing Room Only Tuesday, December 7th. The event starts immediately after dismissal of school. This will be held in conjunction with Nation Ford vs. Fort Mill varsity home dual match starting at 6:00 PM.
We need to sell more tickets! So far there have only been approximately 100 tickets sold. Please call your friends, relatives, and coworkers and ask them to buy a ticket! (even if they can't attend for some reason). We need to sell at least 500 to break even!
The schedule for the event starts at 3:45 PM for the student body.
- 3:45 - 5:30 Pizza served in the lobby by the gym.
- 4:15-5:30 Tug-a war and prizes.
- 5:30 Team warm ups/introductions
- 6:00 Match Nation Ford vs. Fort Mill
- After the Match will be the iPad drawing!
We need Assistance with:
- Help with serving pizza.
- Tug-a-war helpers with weigh–in (1000 lbs per team/8 teams)
- At the door ticket sales (regular entry $5; with food and prizes $7)
- Helping clean up after the Event
Any help you can provide for this inaugural Event will be greatly appreciated!
The objective of the Main Event is two fold. First, to help raise funds (we're hoping a bunch!) that will assist the Fort Mill Wrestling program with expenses, and secondly, to educate and raise awareness within the Fort Mill student body and community about the successful Fort Mill Wrestling program.
This Main Event has been approved by Head Coach Chris Brock and FMHS Principal Dee Christopher.
All of the Fort Mill School District wrestlers will benefit from this event!
